"A child's life is like a piece of paper on which every person leaves a mark."

– Chinese Proverb

Rosie's Early Learning was originally owned by the Rose family and lead by the amazing and talented Carrie Rose who has a deep passion for Early Childhood Education.

After many spectacular years at Rosie's, Carrie handed ownership over to the amazing and enthusiastic Shaun Thompson and Laura Thompson who work closely with our talented Centre Manager, Makaela Meikle, who has worked at Rosie's for many years prior.

Meet our Leadership Team:

INTRODUCING APPROVED PROVIDERS-SHAUN THOMPSON AND LAURA THOMPSON

Shaun Thompson alongside his sister, Laura Thompson both have a Bachelor of Education Degree from QUT and are experienced teachers, who have a passion for Early Childhood Education.

Shaun Thompson has over 15 years’ experience in Early Childhood Education, having previously worked in childcare centres and currently working with some of Brisbane’s top schools.  Shaun has worked at Brisbane Boys’ College for 12 years as a Prep-Yr 2 teacher. Shaun has years of management and leadership experience, including being the Head of Expressive Arts at Brisbane Boys’ College leading over 20 staff,  being Acting Head of Brisbane Boys’ College (Early Years) and achieving Highly Accomplished Teacher status after a rigorous process. Shaun is overseeing the operational and business aspects of Rosie’s Early Learning and is very much hands on when needed.

Laura Thompson has over 18 years’ experience as an Early Childhood teacher. She is currently teaching in Early Years at Samford State School and is involved in leading various community projects for the school involving literacy, the Arts and Prep Play spaces. Having 3 young children herself, who have all attended childcare in various formats (Family Day Care/Kindy and LDC Centres), she is well versed in the various aspects of juggling the demands of a young family and work.

Laura has been the President of the Willmore C&K and highly involved in creating and maintain a community culture within a centre that is inclusive, dynamic and passionate about fostering early learning. Through this role, Laura has developed knowledge of how the governing bodies operate within a childcare setting.

CENTRE MANAGER-MAKAELA MEIKLE

Makaela is extremely passionate about Early Childhood Education and has worked at Rosie's for almost 10 years. She has experience with children of all ages (and has two beautiful children of her own). Makaela's wide range of skills doesn't go unnoticed and this time last year, she was offered a position as Centre Manager, which she took on board and has been thriving ever since.

Makaela has a Diploma of Early Childhood Education and is currently taking a break from studying a Bachelor of Education so she can find some work life balance and continue giving her all to Rosie's and the broader community.

The children at Rosie's adore Makaela, and she is the 1st face they will search for when they come in each morning

ASSISTANT MANAGER-SEREEN KABBARA

Sereen has over 10 years experience in Early Childhood Education as that is where her passion lies. She has experience in other Childcare Centre's as well as a 400 place OSHC as an Assistant Manager before discovering Rosie's Early Learning and making her way over to continue pursuing her leadership skills.

Sereen has a Diploma in Early Childhood Education and is currently studying a Certificate in Child Psychology to better understand how brains work and in turn using that knowledge to support our little ones at Rosie's and the broader Rosie's community.

Sereen enjoys the balance of working closely with the children, families and staff, as well as collaborating with Shaun and Makaela to work on the important behind the scenes tasks which keep Rosie's running.
