"A child's life is like a piece of paper on which every person leaves a mark."

– Chinese Proverb

Rosie's Early Learning was originally owned by the Rose family and lead by the amazing and talented Carrie Rose who has a deep passion for Early Childhood Education.

After many spectacular years at Rosie's, Carrie handed ownership over to the amazing and enthusiastic Shaun Thompson and Laura Thompson who work closely with our talented Centre Manager, Makaela Meikle, who has worked at Rosie's for many years prior.

Meet our Leadership Team:

Shaun Thompson alongside his sister, Laura Thompson both have a Bachelor of Education Degree from QUT and are experienced teachers, who have a passion for Early Childhood Education.

Shaun Thompson has over 15 years’ experience in Early Childhood Education, having previously worked in childcare centres and some of Brisbane’s top GPS schools.  Shaun has worked at Brisbane Boys’ College for 12 years as a Prep-Yr 2 teacher. Shaun has years of management and leadership experience, including being the Head of Expressive Arts at Brisbane Boys’ College,  being Acting Head of Brisbane Boys’ College (Early Years) and achieving Highly Accomplished Teacher (HAT) status after a rigorous process. Shaun is overseeing the operational and business aspects of Rosie’s Early Learning and loves being actively involved in the day-to-day running of the centre.

Laura Thompson has over 18 years’ experience as an Early Childhood teacher. She is currently teaching in the Early Years at her local primary school and is involved in leading various community projects for the school involving literacy, the arts and prep play spaces. Having 3 young children herself, who have all attended childcare in various formats (Family Day Care/Kindy and LDC Centres), she is well versed in the various aspects of juggling the demands of a young family and work.

Laura has been the President of the Willmore C&K and highly involved in creating and maintain a community culture within a centre that is inclusive, dynamic and passionate about fostering early learning. Through this role, Laura has developed knowledge of how the governing bodies operate within a childcare setting.

Makaela is extremely passionate about Early Childhood Education and has worked at Rosie's for almost 10 years. She has experience with children of all ages (and has two beautiful children of her own). Makaela's wide range of skills doesn't go unnoticed and this time last year, she was offered a position as Centre Manager, which she took on board and has been thriving ever since.

Makaela has a Diploma of Early Childhood Education and is currently taking a break from studying a Bachelor of Education so she can find some work life balance and continue giving her all to Rosie's and the broader community.

The children at Rosie's adore Makaela, and she is the 1st face they will search for when they come in each morning

Sereen has over 10 years experience in Early Childhood Education as that is where her passion lies. She has experience in other Childcare Centre's as well as a 400 place OSHC as an Assistant Manager before discovering Rosie's Early Learning and making her way over to continue pursuing her leadership skills.

Sereen has a Diploma in Early Childhood Education and is currently studying a Certificate in Child Psychology to better understand how brains work and in turn using that knowledge to support our little ones at Rosie's and the broader Rosie's community.

Sereen enjoys the balance of working closely with the children, families and staff, as well as collaborating with Shaun and Makaela to work on the important behind the scenes tasks which keep Rosie's running.

We have an amazing team of experienced, qualified and friendly educators at Rosie's.

We pride ourselves on having several qualified Early Childhood Teachers. Four of whom are fully qualified and three who are in the final stages of their degree.

This is huge for a service of only 64 children.

Our educators have a holistic approach to the wellbeing of your child, within a happy, safe and engaging environment that fosters the development of your child’s strengths and interests.

We respect the integral role of educators in the life of children and the consistency of these relationships and therefore retention of staff is a top priority.  We genuinely care for our team members and actively support their ongoing training and development through the provision of quality training, development and learning opportunities.  Our educators enjoy generous employment benefits.

It is of fundamental importance to the provision of high quality early education to foster a workplace where our educators are happy and supported, enabling them to flourish and to be the best they can be.  Our people are supported by the Rosie's Team Culture framework.  Our team values mean that we are passionate, honest, enthusiastic, thoughtful, caring and respectful.  As a team we are committed to:

  • a willingness to develop and learn;

  • listening to feedback, reflecting and making change;

  • engaging in discussion and critical reflection

  • being accountable;

  • being solution focused and following through;

  • helping each other and;

  • finding value in difference.

Our educators are all fully qualified and from time to time we may employ a trainee/apprentice who is currently undertaking studies to become qualified.  All educators hold Blue Cards, current First Aid and CPR Certificates, Asthma and Anaphylactic training.  These certificates are updated regularly. Additional educators may be employed to assist children with Additional Needs.

Information about our educators is displayed in the foyer which includes their name, qualification and group/s of children they work with.

When your child commences at Rosie's your family will be introduced to our entire team.
